As we enter the season of buying and giving gifts, let me suggest a great gift you can give yourself. It is the gift of self-forgiveness!
Let yourself off the hook. Stop beating yourself up. Realize that your spiritual growth took what it took. The essence of who you are is not the mistake you made in 1995 or 1975. The real essence of who you are is "the Christ within our hope of glory." And this Divine Spark has been called by many different names down through the ages.
I was in Unity for many years before I realized this. I felt and said to myself, "There are many things inside of me, and the Christ within is just another thing inside of me." But then during a class given by Unity it hit me: "The Christ within isn't just another thing inside of me. It is the central essence of who I am. I am NOT my error thoughts, and feelings of lack, fear, and scarcity."
Once I realized this several key changes went on in my mind, including:
--If the Christ within has already forgiven me, then my ego needed to give way and forgive me!
--If I start to hear the old negative tapes in my mind, I have the right to push the Delete button because those voices are not from Spirit!
--I am here to learn some lessons and spiritually grow, and one way of growing is through our mistakes. It took what it took to get me where I am today.
It was at this point that i could really start to forgive myself. This happened around the Holiday season, and it was one of the best gifts I ever received.
If you have not given yourself this gift, give it to yourself this year.
